Home Income Opportunities for Moms - How to Avoid Work from Home Scams
Finding legitimate home income opportunities can be a bit of a minefield, both online and off. Moms looking for stay at home jobs face a bewildering barrage of information and misinformation.
Many companies promoting themselves as work from home opportunities promise instant, easy money. It’s never that easy. Always be suspicious of “employers” who require that you pay out money before you can start to work for them. Ideally, it’s the other way around!
One particularly notorious online scam requires that you purchase a kit or special supplies before starting your assemble-at-home craft job. After forking out your money, you receive your kit, put together your first products, and soon discover that your work will never live up to the company’s impossibly high “standards”. Then the company invariably refuses to pay for the work. Most people give up, and the company pockets their cash.
Scams like this prey on the desperate and people who haven’t done their homework before going for work at home job offers.
If you want to earn extra money at home there are many ways to do it. Whether you decide to work for someone else, or for yourself, there are scam warning signs you'll need to watch out for:
1) Don’t fall for “this offer won’t last” pressure tactics from salespeople. It’s usually a lie. Take your time and make an informed decision.
2) You won’t get rich quick. Be wary of any company that promises you wealth for little effort.
3) Don’t fork out money for a website or money making “system” without checking out the company thoroughly. Do a Google search for the company or product and see what other people think.
4) Legitimate home income opportunities will have a website you can visit, and will be happy to send you more information if you want it. Be suspicious of any company that is too eager to take your money without proving who they are first.
5) Stuffing envelopes is often a scam. You send in money to get information about the job, and are sent back a letter showing you how to rip off people in exactly the same way.
If in doubt, go to WAHM (Work at Home Mom) message boards or forums online and find out what the other Moms think. They’ll soon steer you clear of any dodgy operations.
Before you consider any work at home opportunity, always check out the company, both online (Google is a wonderful tool), and with your local Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau.
There are legitimate home income opportunities out there; do your homework and you can build your dream career. Remember that when it comes to work from home jobs, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
