Cultural events in the form of festivals are held all year-round in the Deer Valley area. If you schedule your vacations well you will be able to go to one of these brilliant annual events. If you are interested in art, music, film, food, or fun; you will definitely want to include attending a festival in your vacation plans.
The Park City Arts Festival is generally held the first weekend of August. This festival showcases the work of over 200 artists. Normally there's an assortment of art on display and available to buy including painting, glass, wood work, fabric, and photography. If you're just looking or ready to buy, there's much to look at. This festival also includes wonderful food, live entertainment, and kid-friendly activities. Be prepared for a crowd. Park City's Main Street is shut down to traffic however shuttles are available to take you to the event.
If you're visiting in January, be prepared for the descent of Hollywood upon this mountain town as the annual Sundance Film Festival begins. This ten day event attracts the celebrities, although it is open to the public as well. Film screenings are available at affordable costs. If you would enjoy seeing what's new in independent and international film making including short films, documentaries, and feature-length films; this is an occasion you shouldn't miss. A similar event that is also worth traveling for is the Park City Film Music Festival which is in its fourth year and also takes place in January.
Other music festivals include the Park City International Music Festival. This event is held once a year in July and is in its 23rd year. It is designed for classical music buffs and features classical soloists from all around the country performing together. This is the perfect opportunity to watch a group of world-class musicians perform in an beautiful, mountain setting. For visitors who are more in tune with jazz music, Deer Valley Resort hosts the yearly Park City Festival in August. The splendor of the outside amphitheater combined with magnificent music creates an unforgettable event.
This area is certain to offer a cultural event that's perfect for you. Concerts, great food, and artistic expression is found in abundance in this enchanting mountain town. Check the local papers as soon as you get into town to find out what's available to indulge your palate or your artistic feelings.
