Minnesota Department of Public Safety Taking Interesting Measures to Promote The Dangers of Drinking and Driving
Over 42, 000 motorists were arrested with a Minnesota DUI last year. Additionally, over 200 traffic deaths and other alcohol related crashes cases were registered. With these sobering numbers, The Minnesota Department of Public safety has resorted to taking out of the ordinary measures in a bid to send their message across regarding the dangers of drinking and driving. For instance, men who used urinals in some bars on St. Patrick's Day may have gotten a special message about drunken driving. The Minnesota Department of Public safety deployed 'talking urinal cakes' in about 100 bars to encourage people not to drink and drive. The bottom line is they want the Minnesota DUI arrests to go down. The cakes, activated by a motion sensor, offered a message with a woman's sultry voice saying "Hey there big guy, having a few drinks?" The message was targeted toward primary Minnesota DUI offenders, young men. The Department chose St. Patrick's Day because over the past five years, St. Patrick's Day holidays had traffic crashes resulting in nine deaths, four of which were alcohol related. In addition, over that same time period, nearly 1,400 motorists received a Minnesota DUI arrest on the holiday. Besides the urinal cakes, the Department held a public relations campaign using unique phrasing and sayings such as "Make sure you designate O'driver" and "Nothing goes worse with green beer than a DWI chaser. Road patrols will be thicker than a pint of Guinness". Basically, the State Department of Public safety is using all measures possible to get the message out, revolutionize people's behavior, and improve Minnesota DUI statistics. They want safer roads for all drivers. Anyone facing charges due to the increased enforcement and targeted campaigns should prefer Kans Law Firm to represent them.
