Learning From Allergies

This has been a week for allergies! Although most clients do not come into the Bristol
Clinic for the metaphysical explanation of allergies, it seems that a high percentage of
clients do have questions about them. There are two basic types of allergies: airborne such as pet dander and pollen and food allergies.

An allergy is defined as the body’s overreaction to a foreign substance, I look not only at what that substance is, but also how your body overreacts to that substance. The body has developed an immunological hypersensitivity that can be either localized to a specific area of the body or systemic, affecting the entire body. A client this week developed allergies at the age of 32 and has been “learning” from them for almost thirty years!

Being allergic indicates a strong dislike for someone else and you can no longer tolerate that person, in her case it was her ex-husband. If you are learning from allergies, I urge you to look at the initial moment these allergies began and the people that surrounded you at the time. Allergies are an indication that there is difficulty adapting to a person or situation and you allow some control to take place. This can be in part because you either want to impress the other person or you do not want to hurt their feelings (hence oversensitivity). You may also be a bit defensive and easily intimidated by this person or people in general. Why is approval from this person important to you? Think about that and realize that self-confidence boosts your immune system and will release the inner conflict.

When allergies are systemic, it is all about conflict, conflict that has been internalized. You have let it get “under your skin.” It is almost as if it is a “love-hate” relationship. This can be evident with children that are learning (and teaching) with allergies. Often there are their parents with opposing viewpoints, to put it nicely and the child is conflicted. This inner turmoil of “choosing” between these viewpoints can produce allergic reactions. Severe or life threatening reactions, such as bee stings or peanuts is a metaphysical method of getting everyone’s attention in an effort to qualm the differences.

I mentioned that there are two basic venues for allergies. Food allergies can occur most often with foods that we are fond of. Why? From my perspective you do not feel worthy to enjoy it, you are putting yourself in denial of pleasure. Again, it is about overreacting, or being oversensitive. In a sense you are beating yourself up, that is why there are all these little bumps, I call it a “battlefield.”

Animal and dust allergies usually refer to a feeling of being attacked, rather than the internalization of food allergies, it is airborn. Ask yourself why you have the feeling of being attacked, remember this can be energetically, verbally and otherwise. But it is important to look into your life and examine your thoughts regarding others. Think about what has happened prior to an allergic reaction. Is there one consistent person? If not then it is the consistency of a situation, which triggers your reaction.

I tell all of my clients that you cannot change another person, you can however change your perception of that person. Shifting your expectations can shift the person in the sense that you have shifted your own energy. In doing this you can tolerate anything! Looking at the positive rather than focusing on the negative can help you to alleviate the irritation of allergies.
