Making More Money Through Web Content And Copy
Websites are all made up of Web copy or content. This content and copy can make you money all by itself, or it can help you with making more money. Web content is a different thing than Web copy, and you will have to understand that difference.
Web content is a form of writing that will inform or entertain your readers. Web content usually takes the form of articles. Some sites also include audio files in their content, as well as videos and photos. Many online businesses use Web content to bring potential customers to their website.
Web copy is used on sites where a specific response is wanted from the reader, such as a business seeking brand recognition. Copy may encourage readers to buy something, to sign up for something (such as an email newsletter), or even to click on a specific link on your website. Web copy is also the slogan on the site, the more practical pages, such as media and contact pages, which all work to project the site's image.
So how do you use this Web content and copy to make money? Here's how that happens:
Web content - Many websites make the majority (if not all) of their money online as a result of Web content. There are large content networks, such as About.com, that use their content alone to attract readers, but there are many smaller ones. Web content uses its information to bring in readers to the site, and site owners than have to either have ads on the site or charge a fee for membership to the site. Making money with Web content requires a few steps:
1. When publishing Web content, make sure it is the best quality you can get. Quality content that entertains and informs will bring in more reader, attract more backlinks, and is normally search engine optimized. All of this will bring you more visitors to the site, a higher placement in the search engines, and more money in your pocket.
2. Keep your website fresh with new Web content. To keep readers coming back again, keep the site updated regularly with new content- as readers come back again, your traffic counts go up and you make more money from that content. While ideally you should publish Web content both regularly and frequently, even if you can only publish once per week or once per month, schedule updates as regularly as possible.
3. Make sure your copy will be attracting readers. Keyword research through either Wordtracker or Overture can give you an idea about what to use. While quality content doesn't need to be stuffed with keywords to rank well in search engines, it does need to address a need of your target readers. A lot of searches for one specific topic can mean that there is an existing need for more information on that topic. The keywords being searched are just half of the story- also look at the number of results available and decide how well that market is already being filled.
Web Copy - Copywriting for the Web is usually designed with the sole purpose of turning website visitors into buyers, repeat visitors, subscribers, or whatever your aim is. Web copy that includes the ever pervasive sales letters used to sell e-books, with their testimonials, multiple subheadings, and different-colored copy.
All web copy is persuasive copy, but not all has to have that level of hype. Order pages online always use persuasive techniques to sell the item, maybe a few more items at the same time, and to have the reader buy right then without further consideration. When you see Web copy containing a guarantee, know that it is there to get the reader to buy the item without too much thought.
Copywriting relies a great deal on psychology, and understanding what buyers and website visitors react to. Hiring a professional copywriter (or even studying copywriting yourself before developing your website or online business) can easily lead to higher conversions from website visitors to buyers, earning you more money online in the process.
