How to Uncover Products That Really Sell!

This is one of the most frequently asked questions in many Internet Marketing forums I participate in. People new to affiliate marketing are constantly seeking answers from more experienced marketers on "exactly" what type of products convert better.

It's good to ask questions and learn but at the end of the day you need to do the work yourself. It's one of the most basic processes that you need to get right.

Many marketers are always trying to uncover the next profitable niche product but even more failed. Usually it's because they choose to sell what they themselves like or sell expensive products where they get paid a higher commission. But what they are not doing is think about what the market wants.

The three basic steps listed here, while not exhaustive, can help you uncover profitable products much easier and faster.

Step #1

It's like back to Marketing 101 again. We have to identify the problem the market is having and find a suitable product to solve the problem. People buy things for a few main reasons:

1. To save time

2. To ease pain

3. To experience pleasure


These are some of the most basic human needs. Identifying and satisfying those needs will almost always guarantee your success.

Step #2

Have you checked out the competitors in your niche? The number of competitors will show you how intense the competition is. If there are already established brands in the niche you research, it might be difficult for your product to perform as hoped. So you want to find a niche where there are enough competition to justify profitability and yet won't prevent you from dominating with your product.

Step #3

What about the buying size of the target market? In other words, are there enough demand for the product you are promoting? You may have covered Steps One and Two well but if there isn't any demand then it's going to waste your precious time and effort and something that will never be profitable.

But the above is not all there is to it. You must also check out how easily you can advertise or promote the product. If there are too much competition advertising through Pay Per Click ads, then it's going to be an expensive fight. Then other forms of advertising like Joint Venture or article marketing might be viable.

In conclusion, the above three steps should be taken whenever you are looking for a profitable product to sell. But online conditions are so dynamic, you have to carefully analyse all relevant data to increase your chances of making a profit.
