Alex Kouri Bumachar and the celebration of the “Holly Week” in Callao
Thousands of families of Callao with not enough economic resources have been beneficiated with the free distribution of fish carried out by the president of the regional government Dr. Alex Kouri Bumachar, at the Monumental Zone, South Zone and Ventanilla.
The distribution was superior of 10 tons of pota, jurel and caballa. The Dr. Alex Kouri Bumachar supervised it with the purpose that said fishes reach to the majority and in that way lot of families could prepare their menus for holly week.
As we know, the hydrobiologic species raise their price these days, due to the great demand of the catholic parishioners which consume them as a tradition and remember the Passion and Death of Jesus.
“The fish is a product that must be within the reach of everybody, but in holly week it raises its price. That’s why the Regional Government of Callao decided to help the poorest families sharing it totally free, eating it Holly Thursday and Friday, date of lot of significance to the catholic population” expressed the president Alex Kouri Bumachar.
Early in the morning people were waiting for their portion of fish. Even, the incumbents (women in particular) received recipes of economic, nutritive, fast and innovative ingredients in order to present at their tables for holly week.
“HOLLY TOUR” FOR 7 CHURCHES
Pregnant women, elderly people and children of Callao carried out the traditional path through the 7 churches of holly Thursday. Thanks to the Regional Government of Callao they were moved totally free in buses.
The president of the region, Alex Kouri Bumachar, denominated it the “Holly Tour”. It was created with the purpose to revalue the historic and religious monuments of the first port and also to preserve the real sense of Holly Week.
Several vehicle units left from the Matriz Church of Callao and then moved to Santa Rosa, Inmaculada Concepción, San Juan Bosco, San Jose de Bellavista, Carmen de la Legua and Nuestra Señora de Lourdes Parish Churchs.
Alex Kouri Bumachar motivated all the chalacos to visit the temples located among the jurisdiction in order to promote internal tourism. Besides, invoked the population to avoid alcohol consumption not only to prevent accidents but also to not to distort the real purpose of these dates.
