How to quit smoking today
How many people out there reading this are smokers?
If you are reading this, then it's highly likely you are.
How many times have you tried to quit?
I had tried to quit smoking on numerous occasions, and sometimes lasted a couple of weeks, but always seemed to start again before a month was up.
There were many reasons why I wanted to quit.
I hated the smell, the cost and what it does to your body.
I had no business smoking in the first place. nobody does really, but I'm also an asthmatic, so smoking was incredibly stupid.
Like many people, I started smoking in my mid teens. I had a couple of "puffs" now and then initially, but then ended up on a school trip in a caravan with four other girls, all of them smoked.
At the end of the trip I had bought my first packet, that was 25 years ago and it started my almost pack a day habit.
When trying to quit I tried the patches, the gum, cold turkey, the lozenges. They DO cut down on the cravings, but I found that for me, it wasn't the cravings that made my stop smoking attempts come unstuck.
It was the HABIT in my head!
There are situations, times of the day, set routines where you smoke. You don't realize how much your life has been ruled by cigarettes till you try and get them out of your head!
That was the part which I found VERY hard to control.I needed to change my thinking patterns.
A friend of mine introduced me to the idea of hypnosis. I was initially a skeptic, but having tried so many times before without success I figured it was worth a shot.
What I found was that the problems that were preventing me from quitting before were addressed with hypnotherapy. It redirected my habit into something more positive. My overall feeling was that I did NOT want to smoke and that I was already a non smoker.
Now every day I can actually breathe properly again, I can smell things I couldn't smell before, taste things I couldn't before, I feel healthier, I don't feel like a "smoking outcast" and I even have a LOT more money every week.
