The Lazy Way To Get In Shape

Step into any fitness center these days and you could be forgiven for believing that the only way to cut the fat and get into shape is to thrust yourself headlong into a heart straining workout routine.

However they all make the same mistake of thinking that if you would like to lose a little weight then you must also want to run a marathon or compete in a triathlon. And how wrong they are!

See, professional athletics training and simply shedding some excess fat are at opposite ends of the fitness spectrum and never likely to meet. In the weight loss market, one size most definitely doesn't fit all.

So if you are not practising for the next Olympics, what can you do to lose weight and get fit? In a nutshell, just undo all the things that got you into your present situation. Which for most of us was a combination of eating too much of the wrong things and doing little or no exercise.

So it stands to reason that if you want to shed the pounds and feel fitter, you need to eat less of the bad foods and more of the good stuff. And get your body moving! All it takes is a little spare time and motivation.

Start off gently by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Forget the automobile for all those short journeys, walking is far healthier and you get to meet new friends too. Take the dog with you and make the most of your quality time. The whole reason for this is to make you appreciate that exercise is a part of daily life, not some torture that you need to endure as punishment for enjoying a meal.

As you begin to feel the benefits, simply raise your target a little at a time. Walk more often or increase your distance. Carry a rucksack containing a bottle filled with water to add a little resistance to your routine.

Drinking a glass of water before every meal will make you feel full sooner as well as helping you to avoid dehydration. Water also aids your digestion by keeping your bowels regular so make sure that you drink plenty throughout the day.

By making a few small improvements to your diet and your lifestyle, you will soon start to feel fitter, younger and a whole lot better. Now isn't that better than risking serious heart problems on a squash court?
