How To Effectively Deal With Relationship Stress - Part 2
Part 1 of this article previewed five effective ways regarding how to effectively deal with relationship stress. Part 2 continues these ideas and suggestions.
1. Develop assertive skills; avoid passive behaviours. Being assertive is not the same as being aggressive. Aggressive people will typically do whatever it takes to get what they want, regardless of who or what gets in the way. Assertive people can get what they want without hurting other people. Passive tendencies usually will get pushed aside. Strictly passive tendencies are not good in a healthy relationship.
2. Practice good listening skills. Do you really know how to listen to someone? Be sure that you do. This can be one of the most important areas to practice regarding how to deal with relationship stress.
3. Develop self awareness. Are you aware of your actions and behaviour? How do you come across in a discussion or argument? Are you totally aware of what role you may have played in a stressful situation?
4. Develop a sense of bodily awarenss. How in tune to your body and the way you feel are you? In order to deal with relationship stress quickly and effectively it is important that you recognize the effects it can have on your body and how you feel. The more aware you are of your body the quicker you can identify the changes that occur.
5. Avoid denial. Don't deny problems when they arise. They won't go away on their own. Deal with them right away. The longer you deny them the greater they will become.
