If you are disabled, it's possible you are having trouble making ends meet on a fixed income. In addition, you could find yourself needing a car and without the means to purchase one. There are some options out there though, so follow these steps to get a car free if you are disabled.
Step1
Go to the local churches in your area. A church will be most likely to try to help you if you are a member, but even if you aren't, it's worth a try. Explain all aspects of your situation and remember that even if a church can't help, they might know of another organization that can.
Step2
Look for organizations that help people with the same disability you have. Ask if they have any programs that help provide transportation at little or no cost. Talk to several people in the company; some may know about more programs than others.
Step3
Find websites that allow people to post things that they want to give away or things that they want free. In addition, check to see if you have something that you could possibly trade for an inexpensive car. While you are using the Internet, use a search engine to find programs that may have the potential to give you a free car.
Step4
Visit the car dealerships in your area. They might have some sort of program in place to help people like you. They also might be able to use the donation as a tax write off. Once again, even if they can't help you, they might know of someone who can.
Step5
Try to find any grants for people with disabilities that you could apply for. You might be able to get some money that you could use to purchase a car.
