Got Milk? How About Water and Juice?
Just because a drink says "juice" doesn't mean it is healthy. Many juice drinks aren't even juice at all and are full of sugar, just as sodas are. You have to be selective if you want to choose the healthy things for your kids to drink.
But it's critical that you make sure your child makes healthy choices in drinks. Not only do these unhealthy beverages lack vitamins that your child needs, they can also cause problems with growth and development.
There are good and healthy choices for your kids and here I will explain those to you.
Water. The absolute best beverage for your child to drink is water. Water is essential to the function of every part of the body. Sadly, most children who eat the Western diet are dehydrated much of the time.
Basis, everyday water has no taste and it's hard to get your kids to drink something that doesn't taste good. Try adding some flavor like a slice of lemon or lime or make it very cold to satisfy them even more.
Don't be fooled by the so called flavored waters on the market; they may not have as many calories as other drinks, but they lack the essential vitamins your children need. Good ole tap water is till your best bet.
The preconception of allowing children to drink juices is that they will become overweight; this just isn't true. Even if they drink a lot of juice, studies indicate that they will not become overweight as adults.
Juice is fine for your child as long as you research the different types of drinks and make sure it is real just and not one of those imitation type juices. Water is best, but juice taste much better.
Milk. Milk is another great beverage for growing children. Kids tend to like it and it's a great source of calcium and protein. Even flavored milks are a healthier alternative to soda. I lost 40 lbs in 3 months with extreme dieting measures that almost destroyed my health. Spicy food + lots of milk that lead to serious diarrhea every day. I've been doing a bit of research after my dramatic weight loss experience and found that there's actually a PROGRAM designed to do what I attempted, except its basically more healthier and effective.
