Weight Loss Tips: Healthier After School Snacks

When your kids hit the door, the first thing they probably
want is something eat. After a long day of school their
minds and bodies are craving energy. But what you give your
kids after school can make a big difference in how healthy
and energetic they feel.

Many parents feed their children foods such as cookies and
processed foods. While these give quick energy, they're not
the best choice for your child. Instead of high calorie,
high fat treats you need to focus on foods that will provide
good nutrition for your child.

An inexpensive and healthy snack for your kids for an after
school treat is veggies with dig or dressing. Even if the
dip or dressing has added fat, it's still much better than
dipping into the cookie jar.

The best snack for your kids after school hunger pains are
fresh fruits of all kinds. These give your kids a great
deal of vitamins and will also satisfy their sweet tooth.
Keep them ready and available for your kids for easy access.

Natural Snacks. The best snacks are those things that you
can find in nature. You can also give your child nuts,
popcorn, dried fruit, string cheese, yogurt, and milk as a
snack.

The general rule of thumb for after school snacks is to
choose those that are natural and not processed. Avoid
added sugar and fat. You may also want to limit foods that
are high in preservatives and extra coloring.

Dipping fruits or vegetables in peanut butter is a great
way to help your children enjoy their flavor without adding
unhealthy calories.

There are a great many snack items in the grocery store
that aren't healthy foods to have for your kids to snack on.
It's up to you to change their eating habits and give them
a healthier alternative to cookies and junk.
