A guide to Belgium Chocolate
If you're a chocolate lover like I am, you'll eat almost every kind of chocolate that's being offered to you and I readily admit, I can't really tell the difference between them. But then comes Belgian chocolate, that seems to have a class of its own altogether, and the taste is one so rich and exquisite that you find yourself questioning where it came from only to know the answer; Belgium of course.
If there was ever a “gourmet” category in the world of chocolate, Belgian Chocolate will be one of the prestigious few to fall into that category. It's said that the basic recipes of chocolate came from the Belgian's themselves.
You'll be surprised to know though that one of the reasons why Belgian chocolate tastes so good is because most of it is still made by hand in small shops all over using the original equipment that was first used back when they started out. I guess they believe that for something to taste a certain way all these years it has to be done the exact same way with the exact same things, and that machines and mass production just don't give out the same flavors.
If you actually get a chance to go to Belgium don't miss out on their small chocolate outlets and shops. Thousands visit each year and it's truly a special experience tasting such fresh and heavenly chocolate. You even get to choose some souvenirs for yourself and loved ones and many chocolate shops come with free tastings too!
If there's one type of Belgian chocolate that you must try, it would probably be Pralines. Though pralines are sold throughout the world nowadays, none other can compete with Belgian chocolate pralines. These little delights are filled with a variety of flavored creams and nougats such as fruits and different kinds of chocolates and some of the world's biggest brands are still operating till today.
Name's like the almighty Godiva chocolates are infamous in the chocolate world, but do you know that these heavenly pricey chocolates originate from Belgium and yes, they produce some of the best pralines as well. A lot of people say that Belgian chocolates are on the high side but there is no substitute for the taste it provides. Once you've tried a Belgian praline, you'd never want to go back to a normal chocolate block or bar again.
