Skin Care is Essential
Pollutants in the environment, cigarette smoke and sunshine are just a few of the ways that your skin can become damaged and start to look older than it should. Skin care tips and techniques seem to be a dime a dozen but how many of them actually work? Keeping your skin healthy can be difficult. Many of us have specific skin types that are prone to either being too greasy or too dry. It’s almost as if there is no happy in between. However, giving up is never an option when it comes to the largest organ the human body has. You only have one skin and taking care of it should be a priority.
Vitamin D is necessary for the health of your skin. The best source of Vitamin D is the sun. But that doesn’t have to be a problem. You really only need a few minutes of sun exposure a few times a week to get the Vitamin D that your skin so desperately needs. Though these few minutes are important to your skin, don’t go out into the sun between the hours of ten in the morning and three in the afternoon when the sun is at its highest and hottest points. Try early morning walks while the air is still cool or in the evening when the set has not yet set but has fallen down over the horizon.
Use facial cleansers that are filled with natural ingredients rather than chemical compositions. A good exfoliate will cleanse the oils from your skin but take care not to use it too often; it can lead to dry and rough skin. Clean your face regularly but don’t overdo it on the moisturizer. Lotion has become such a regularly used commodity that many people don’t realize that they don’t need nearly as much as they use. Give your skin a chance to breathe naturally, only use lotion when you really need it.
Sunscreen is more than absolutely necessary. This should come as no surprise with the level the UV rays are burning into you at. Depending on your skin type, your sunscreen needs may vary. Consult a dermatologist if you’re very fair skinned or already have some kind of skin damage for guidance in methods of protection. They can recommend a good product, in some cases even a prescription. It doesn’t take much for UV rays to wreak havoc on the skin. There is no room to compromise when serious health risks come into play. Many types of skin cancer are completely avoidable with proper care.
Don’t be too quick to dismiss some of your daily activities as a hazard to your skin’s health. Smoking is a great way to age yourself well beyond your actual years. Many premature wrinkles are because of cigarette smoke. Pollutants and even workplaces that are heavy with chemical use can do harm to your skin. Consider this when you plan your skin care routine. Don’t get carried away with a ten step daily wash program though, that often hinders more than it helps. Skin care is the first step in a younger looking appearance. The benefits speak for themselves.
