Preventing Stomach Problems
I'm sure that many of us know what the stomach is. Right? Come on, we should know, it's that organ that sits between our esophagus and small intestines. In general the stomach has three tasks that it does for us each and everyday. It stores our swallowed food; it then mixes that food with stomach acid and then passes that stored food into the small intestine. People deal with stomach problems each and everyday all over the world. These problems can range anywhere between indigestion all the way to peptic ulcers.
Want to know a stomach issue that plagues around 20% of our population each day? It's simple; you may even have mild or even severe cases of it. It's heartburn. Do we all know what heartburn is? Here let me break this one down for you too. Heartburn is when we feel a burning sensation that happens in our chest. These burning sensations can become so severe it may feel as if our chests are on fire. Generally heartburn happens after we've eaten a large meal and it's very common as well. There are however many different ways for us to try and stop heartburn.
Many stomach problems can be considered mild cases. That doesn't mean that there are severe cases that happen all of the time. If at any point you have any symptoms such as: Ongoing vomiting or diarrhea, blood in your bowel movements or severe abdominal pain then you should consult your doctor immediately. Even if you don't' suffer from these severe cases, but notice that you often have the same symptoms happening daily, you should also consider consulting your doctor.
I mentioned earlier about several ways to stop heartburn. Well let's take a look, shall we? There's of course the givens such as: Antacids, H-2 receptor blockers and proton pumps. Then of course we have our home remedies which can include things such as: Eliminating the types of foods that cause heartburn to begin, watching out weight, try eating smaller meals daily instead of one large one and of course the most famous that we all probably heard about growing up. Drink a glass of milk before, during or after eating. If at any time you are having heartburn symptoms more then a few times during one week, you may want to consider consulting your doctor.
