MLM Scams How To Avoid Them

There are a lot of scams going on especially through the Internet these days that disguise themselves as network marketing companies and their only purpose is to get the wallets of its participants lighter. For someone interested in starting a home based business the easiest way to protect himself would be to avoid the multi level marketing industry altogether.

Of course that is not a solution as there are also many legitimate MLM opportunities which have the potential to help their members get the income and lifestyle they desire in their lives. By staying out of that business model you may missing on such great opportunities that can change your life financially.

The best way to protect yourself while at the same time not limiting the choices you have is information. You need to learn as much you can about how legal multilevel marketing is practiced and what to look in a company so you can identify if it's only a fraud destined to get closed down by the authorities or the real thing that can help your dreams become true.

A good place to check about the regulations and legalities of network marketing is at the website of the FTC which stands for federal trade commission. As for what to look into the company there are 5 signs that can warn you about a possible MLM pyramid scheme.

If the product is only an excuse for the exchange of money that company won't operate for long as it would be shut down at one point. Some times there is not a product or service, which makes it even more obvious

Check the founders and management team. If they have a past of questionable practices or were convicted in the past they are not the best people to associate yourself with and do business. Sometimes they are even hiding themselves and needless to say that if someone has something to hide that's a bad sign.

Search for possible complaints and read them carefully. Some of them may bogus or false but if some sound probable and make sense ask those who try to sponsor you about them.

If it sounds too good to be true probably is, so it makes sense to stay way. Though I don't exclude to be rare cases where something is too good and also true, in most of the cases it does not happen.

If they tell you that no work is required and everything is automated, then the only thing they automated is to take the money from you. After all if there is nothing to do then what do they want you for?
