History of Diamonds
A lot of people think that the fashion is an up to date notion and that in the previous centuries people have not paid so much attention to it. However, they are wrong. Do you know the fact that people were wearing jewelry even in the Stone Age? At each century there were own rules of fashion, pertaining that very age. The fashion for the jewelry was also changing. Nowadays, it is very prestige to wear diamonds. The prices for the diamonds are too high, and all this is only because of there is no such a stone in nature. To receive a diamond, a jeweler has to facet it for a long time. One of the places, where a diamond can be extracted is India. The first use of the diamond as a decoration, dated under the 11 century. They are found at the Hungarian Queen’s crown. And only when several centuries have passed, diamond jewelry also became very popular in Europe. However, as the diamonds were and are very expensive, only Royal families could afford to wear them. The first diamond was cut in the 16 century in Antwerp city (now Belgium). Nowadays cutting and faceting is a main way to bring the stone in a proper form and value.
