Wow, so who invented the iPod?
The two greatest creative business minds in the world are Steve Jobbs and Jonathan Ive, both who happen to work at Apple Computer. Steve Jobbs, who runs Apple, his atypical slant on business philosophy and his inclination to literally attempt to "perfect" his products, coupled with Jonathan Ive's, who invented the ipod, attempt at mixing surreal amounts of beauty with outrageous mixtures of usability have become a winning pair.
The biggest success in Apple's recent years has been the world-famous cultural icon, the iPod, a gorgeous MP3 player. The iPod has gone from literally not existing in early 2001 to now being a status symble, cultural icone and social shifting "toy".
The main success behind the iPod is found in two basic design principles of Apple Computer:
1. Completely Beautiful
2. Completely Useful
By abandoning traditional "design", Jonathan Ive, who invented the ipod created the iPod to be the perfect mixture of art and usability, and went leaps and bounds above other MP3 players of the day. This is one of the reasons I've has received literally dozens of design awards through his career.
The iPod is beauiful, useful and here to stay. Other tech manufacturers should heed the lessons of Apple, and create products that are a mixture of beauty and use, rather than just focusing on one. Who knows, perhaps this is the first step towards a generation of beautifuly getting things done.
