Parts of an Online Newsletter

.Nameplate – the banner on the front of a newsletter that identifies the publication. Usually contains the name of the newsletter, graphics, subtitle, motto, and publication information including volume and issue or date.
.Body – the bulk of the text excluding the headlines and decorative text elements.
.Table of Contents – usually appears on the front page. It briefly lists articles and special sections of the newsletter as well as the page numbers for those items.
.Masthead – lists the name of the publisher and other relevant data. May contain staff names, contributors, subscription information, addresses, logo, and copyright information. It is sometimes confused as the nameplate of the newsletter.
.Headline – the title of your article. It's one of the first things the readers scans when opening the newsletter.
.Page Numbers - appear at the top, bottom, of sides of the pages. Usually page one is not numbered in a newsletter.
.Bylines - the name of the person writing the article or section of your publication, usually placed between the headline and the article text. It may be in Italic as straight copy or be a link. It may contain the writer's position at the publication. A picture may accompany the byline, which can also be a link to a web page detailing additional information about the writer.
.Continuation Lines - used if newsletters span two or more pages.
.End Signs - a symbol or character signaling the end of the newsletter. Whatever end sign you use, be consistent. Use the same end sign through out the newsletter. When bylines are used at the end of the newsletter, they don't usually need end signs. The thing is, it's just good to let the readers know.
.Pull Quote - is a snippet of text pulled from an article and placed prominently on the page in a larger font to attract attention. It's often used in long articles. It provides a teaser that attracts the reader into the story.
.Subscription Panel - this is the portion of the newsletter where the readers subscribe by filling in their email and name on the panel to join the newsletter mailing list. This is the most important part because this is where the writer gets prospects and loyal readers for the writer's advertising approach.
