NFL Weekly Review

NFL Weekly Review

The first week of NFL action has produced some interesting results so far, especially NFL Sunday with 8 road teams winning. The NFL season kicked off with Miami at Pittsburgh Thursday without Pittsburgh’s star quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. Charlie Batch filled in well however and triumphed 28-17 in a game which we took a staggering amount of bets. We are glad NFL is here and it is just amazing how many people betting football so far this year.

NFL best games for the bookmakers…

St Louis defeated Denver 18-10 with St Louis not even scoring a touchdown. Denver closed a 4 point favorite with lots of parlays and teasers being placed on them but with St Louis winning by 8 points, even players who bet 10 point teasers on Denver were disappointed.

Dallas was a heavily bet team this week against Jacksonville, so much that Jacksonville opened a 3 point favorite but after a flood of money, Dallas closed a 2 ½ point favorite. With all the press Dallas has been receiving lately, including Terrell Owens, our customers translated that into betting $$ on Dallas. Jacksonville fought back after trailing early and triumphed 24-17.

NFL best games for players...

Normally Kansas City playing at home is a good bet, but not this week after Cincinnati destroyed them including Trent Green 23-10. Trent Green went down after a big hit in the 3rd quarter which halted any thought of a come back by Cincinnati. Kansas City opened a 4 ½ favorite but we couldn’t find many bettors for them and Cincinnati closed the favorite by 1 ½ points.

Another big game for our customers was Chicago killing Green Bay 26-0. Green Bay was never in the hunt and Chicago easily covered the 3 ½ points.

While it was great to welcome back NFL with a decent weekend of results, College was definitely a week for our customers. The most popular games which our customers bet and made big $$ were Ohio State winning 24-7 over Texas, California 42-17 over Minnesota U and Missouri 34-7 over Mississippi.

The American hopeful Andy Roddick tried his heart out, but odds-on favorite Roger Federer claimed the US Open men’s title and Maria Sharapova claimed the women’s. The first week of the tournament was plagued by rain which always hurts betting action, but this week’s action was great, especially with most games having good action on both competitors in the matches.
