Home Security Systems-Do You Need One?
The average investment for a home and furnishings is in the $300,000.00 neighborhood. Yet more people have alarms for their car than their home. That could be one of the reasons why home burglary is on the rise throughout the country-most homes don't have any security system-NONE.
Burglars of course study these kinds of things and can tell when they case a neighborhood which homes look like easy pickins. They aren't going to pick homes that look like they are protected when so many aren't protected. What are the kinds of things they look for?
They look for 'signs' of trouble. Security Company signs, vicious guard dog signs, NRA signs, motion activated security lights, cameras-any kind of sign that denotes that they may be in for a hard time.
They look for places to hide near and around the house. Shrubs, trees, hedges, walls anything that can keep their presence hidden.
They look for privacy. Lots of space between homes, a house at the end of the street, near a cul de sac, a quiet neighborhood, a remote area-anywhere they can get in get out quickly without being seen.
The question though is whether or not you need a home security system? YOU MAY NOT NEED ONE.
Cost unfortunately is an issue for most folks. If they can spend $50.00 on some dummy security cameras, $20.00 on some signs, and the cost of your labor to clear away shrubs from window and door areas then to most it doesn't make sense to spend more for a security system.
The overriding factor however should be security of the home and safety of your family. Can you protect your home and family without getting a security system? ABSOLUTELY YES! Prudent homeowners should take the precautionary steps above in its' stead.
The fact is no matter what your economic status or the value of your home and furnishings you should have some kind of protection. People usually turn to a local security company to get some assistance. Gosh what do you think they'll tell you?
