Projectors- What Are They

A projector can be described as a device that utilises a light source to display video images on a screen. Earlier versions included overhead projectors and slide projectors, but nowadays video projectors are the ones that are mainly used for home theatre viewing or business presentations. Slide projectors are mechanical devices that display still images directly on to a wall or screen. They are comprised of four distinct parts that let these images be projected. The bulb which is responsible for the provision of light necessary for image projection is a fan-cooled electric type bulb. There is a special condensing lens which along with a device that reflects light, is used to point the image, at the same time as a type of holding mechanism keeps the focusing lens and slides in place. Overhead projectors are devices that are used to share images, usually to an audience, by means of projecting them on to a screen or wall. These can be fairly large devices and are normally set on a special stand or a rolling cart. The internal workings of this old-fashioned device contain a bright lamp which is accompanied by a fan for cooling it down and a big lens that is used to filter the light from the bulb. All this can be found in the bottom half of the projector in a quite large metal holder. Light from the lamp shoots upward where it strikes a mirror and lens which is supported by a kind of arm, which reflects the image forward. Video projectors make use of strong electric bulbs to help project the moving images and will quite often let users adjust the size, picture quality and quite a few other settings by means of manual controls. Common kinds of projectors are DLP and LCD projectors. The LCD projectors utilise a liquid crystal display to replicate moving images onto a screen and these happen to be the simplest to operate and the more affordable to buy. The DLP video projectors include Texas Instrument's digital light processing technology and these video projectors normally use light valves to form a crystalline image.
