Common Problems With Cell Phones

Is your cell phone, also known as your lifeline, primary means of communication, and all-important gadget acting up? Oh no! What to do? If you have phone insurance, chances are your phone company will take care of business for you and either fix your phone or supply you with a new one. But if you don’t? Then what? Here are some common issues that may help you troubleshoot your cellular or mobile phone… and ways to avoid some of the worst things that can happen to a phone.

Water damage: Water damage is one of the worst things that can befall your precious cellular or mobile phone. It can happen in many different ways – you could drop the phone in water, spill something on it, get caught in the pouring rain, or even handle the phone with wet hands. Should your phone get wet, it is important to keep the phone switched off while attempting to let it dry out. Chances are, the internal components will be damaged, regardless, but keeping the phone turned off actually does minimize damage. Beyond that, the best safeguard against water is to be cognizant of your phone in potentially wet situations [camping, hiking, rainy days] and to get a protective case that will keep your phone safe from water damage.

Heat: Believe it or not, heat can damage your cellular or mobile phone. One of the worst things you can do is leave your phone in a hot car on a summer day. The heat can cause battery damage, and even lead to corrosion of the phone. It can also destroy the electronic components or computer chips inside the phone. It is best to keep your phone in a cool, dry place at all times.

Cold: Not surprisingly, extreme cold can also be dangerous to the phone. Freezing temperatures could cause you to temporarily or permanently lose the images on your screen, rendering your phone useless for text messages or in some cases, for being sure what number you just dialed. Again, it is best to keep your phone in a cool, dry place… but remember “cool” is not the same thing as “cold.”

These are the three biggest threats to cell phones. Be sure to take care of your phone and look out for damage of this sort. Phones are more fun than ever these days with things such as Sprint ringtones, Motorola ringtones, cameras, video cameras, games, Internet, instant messaging, and lots more... so there's no reason to not take the best care possible of your phone. After all, they're expensive to repair or replace, and who wants to re-do their whole phone book?
