Paris Short Stays...
Although it isn't a well publicized fact, Paris is the second largest European city; the river it straddles, the Seine, also has two islands, situated in the oldest part of the city. No visit to Europe would be complete without a short stay in Paris; if you have more time, it will make for a remarkable holiday, with many great sites to see.
This city is also equally well known for its Gothic architecture and markets; it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other famous tourist attractions. Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals; the underground train system or Metro can take you to anywhere within the city and is simple to use.
You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. At night, it comes alive with lights that have to be seen to be believed; guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.
The famous Paris Avenue ‘the Champs Elysees' must also receive a visit; it's where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. When you visit this region of the city you will see it is a much more select area; most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum; with almost a third of a million exhibits, you will not be able to see everything in one trip. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; unfortunately it has so many visitors each year that some people are unable to see their favorite works. What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great capital; the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.
Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. It also features an observatory to take in surrounding views; it stands in the place where the city's main avenues begin including the Champs Elysees.
Of course this article can only give a small sample places to visit; and whilst there are many more worthy examples, those listed here should not be missed. Unfortunately, short stays in Paris can be demanding on visitors; the churches, cathedrals and other museums will just have to wait for another time.
