Digital cameras include many features which are not found in film cameras such as displaying the image on the camera’s screen immediately after it is recorded. These cameras are also infused with the ability to record video with sound and the ability to edit and delete the images which allows the re-use of the storage space they occupied. The Hubble Space Telescope and other astronomical devices are essentially specialised digital cameras.
Basically, these digital cameras are classified into three categories, i.e., Camcorders which are basically used by the amateurs and they also include a micro phone to record sound and feature a small liquid crystal display to watch the video during taping and playback, there are also some Professional video cameras, ones which are used in television and movie production. Some digital cameras are designed to be small and portable which are also called as compact cameras which are easy to use and the images from a compact camera can only be stored with the help of a JPEG compression. They are also installed with a low power flash and zoom capability whose range is usually less than the DSLR cameras. They also have a greater depth of field which allows the large range of distance objects to be in sharp focus. They are mainly suitable for casual and snapshot use.
